The Colline Novaresi are the gentle rolling hills north of Novara in Alto Piemonte where Nebbiolo has been grown for centuries. Mötfrei is the dialect name of the hill on whose slopes grow the grapes that made this wine.
In the dialect of the commune of Suno "Möt" means hill and "Frei" means porcini mushrooms, hence. Mötfrei - hill of porcini mushrooms.
Made of 100% Nebbiolo, this elegant red wine is aged for eighteen months in French oak barrels.
The special microclimate and the careful field selection of the grapes give this wine its character and structure, not powerful, but rather a kindness and finesse from the balance between fragrant and floreal notes and spice.
It is approachable and ready to drink now, but will withstand aging.
Serve at 65°F, and uncork the bottle a half hour before serving.
